On what would have been Michael Jackson's 51st birthday, Saturday, August 29,
2009, a new children's song paying tribute to Michael Jackson was digitally released
worldwide via all major online music retailers entitled "Michael The Kid (A Tribute To
Michael Jackson - The King Of Pop)." This song is performed by Good News Tommy
and was the first original children's song to pay tribute to Michael Jackson. Good
News Tommy is a new children's music artist, featuring singer, songwriter and
producer Tom Radd.
"This song does not mourn the death of Michael Jackson, it's a celebration of his life"
according to Tom Radd. "All across the world, people have been dancing and singing
in the streets in order to pay tribute to the King of Pop. This song was written in that
same spirit for Michael's fans and their children to enjoy. The song's lyrics tell an
inspirational story of how a kid, through hard work and determination, became a
king." Tom Radd says: "Musically, the song is influenced by artists like Jackie Wilson,
James Brown, Sam & Dave… these are the artists that Michael Jackson listened to
and loved as a kid. I hope this song in some small way can help heal the world,
much like Michael did through his music."
As a music coordinator, Tom Radd worked alongside music legends Tony Bennett,
Willie Nelson, Eurythmics, Bee Gees, Earth, Wind & Fire, Barry Manilow, Johnny
Mathis, Kenny Rogers, Gloria Estefan, Trisha Yearwood, Don Henley, Reba McEntire,
Vince Gill, and others on the Emmy award-winning Live By Request television series
on A&E Networks. In the Broadcasting and Event Marketing department at Columbia
Records, Tom Radd worked on marketing plans and events for Bruce Springsteen,
Will Smith, Aerosmith, Journey, James Taylor, Mariah Cary, John Mellencamp,
Destiny's Child, and many others. He also helped promote Bono's "What's Going On"
charity project by producing a program for American Talk Radio. While working for Six
Flags™, Tom Radd created and organized the Sam Ash Spring Break Music Festival
at Six Flags Great Adventure, this two-day music festival was the first concert event
Sam Ash Music Stores produced in its 80 year history.
